Customizing
the Drag Curve
- The sole value of any ballistic
software lies in its ability to predict real
world trajectories. Most ballistic
software assume that a specific drag function
accurately describes the drag characteristics of
the bullet used by the shooter. Therefore,
whether you use a flat-based, spire point, a
boat-tail, tangent ogive, or a VLD bullet, the
only drag-related variable most programs have is
the ballistic coefficient. This program is
different. In addition to using the
manufacturers published ballistic coefficient,
it allows the user to calculate a variable that
changes the shape of the drag curve. In
other words, this program allows the shooter to
calculate a second drag coefficient or
constant that affects the calculated rate of
bullet deceleration over the supersonic velocity
range. Once this second constant has been
determined, the resulting trajectory
calculations are very accurate for that
particular bullet because the drag function has
effectively been customized for that bullet.
A good
value -
this is good, solid software. You will be
surprised at the accuracy, flexibility,
and the overall usefulness of these programs.
This will be the last
ballistic program you will ever need to buy.
If you shoot long range, either
in a tactical setting or competitively, this software will serve you extremely
well.

Lex Talus
Corporation has designed two interrelated ballistic
software products: a desktop program called the "Precision
Shooter's Workbench©" and
the "Field Firing Solutions©", a real-time field version
designed to generate firing solutions in the field from a PDA using
current atmospheric and target data.
